Good Habits for Healthy Eyes

Maintaining your eye sight is very important, you should always make sure that you are doing everything you can to maintain healthy eye sight. That is why I am going to take the time to tell you about some healthy habits that you can practice to keep your eye sight healthy.

Healthy Habits

  1. Proper Diet
  2. Adequate Immunizations
  3. Good Reading Habits
  4. Regular Eye Exam

If you do everything that I am about to tell you, you will have grade a eyesight. However, you need to make sure that you do all four not just one. All of these factors work together to make you have better eye sight.

Proper Diet

When it comes to proper diet you should make sure that you are getting enough vitamin A in your diet. I have took the time to list some ways that you can do just this below.

  1. Milk
  2. Cheese, cream, butter
  3. Eggs, liver
  4. Dark green leafy vegetables
  5. Carrots
  6. Squash
  7. Fruits
  8. Cod Liver Oil

Vitamin A

When it comes to your eyes, if you have a lack of vitamin A then you may begin to notice certain problems arising. I have listed some problems below that are causes of the lack of vitamin a.

  1. Conjunctival & Corneal Xerosis
  2.  Keratomalacia
  3. Infection and ulceration
  4. Night Blindness

In the Skin

In the skin if you lack vitamin a you will notice dryness of the skin and hyperkeratosis.

Immunizations

I believe that everyone should get immunizations including babies, especially overseas where there are a lot of other diseases going around. Measles are the number one cause of vitamin deficiency. For adults, you should take a vitamin a tablet only by your doctor’s advice, if you take vitamin a over to long of a period it can lead to toxicity.

Practice Makes Perfect

You may also want to practice having the right amount of light when you are reading or doing work that is going to be held close to your eyes. Make sure that you have proper posture also. You may want to hold the material that you are reading at a proper distance so that you will not be straining your eyes.
It is also important to make sure that you go to all of your scheduled eye exams, just because a condition didn’t show up before, it doesn’t mean that one can pop up suddenly.
If you need to use eye drops then feel free to do so. However, you should use only one drop of medication at a time. You should also close your eyelid after instillation.

Overall View

My overall view is that you need to maintain your eye sight so that you will be able to enjoy the wonderful scenery that God has blessed us with. I couldn’t imagine going one day without my sight that is why I urge you to take the necessary steps to make sure that you are going in the right direction when it comes to your eyes. Your sight is nothing to play with.
Make sure that you go to your regular doctor appointments, while you are there feeling free to ask questions about the concerns that you may have. Your doctor’s job is to make sure that you leave with all your questions answered to the best of his or her ability. So don’t be afraid to ask a question about your condition.

If you have a certain eye condition, your doctor will be able to tell you the steps that he is going to take to make it better. He will give you the medication that you need to take; he will also tell you instructions of taking care of your eyes.
I hope that the information I have provided you with helps you along the way to develop good habits for healthy eyes. I believe that if you take my advice you will have healthy eyes in no time at all. If you would like to find more information on good habits for healthy eyes you can get on the Internet and do a little research or you can go to your local library. I am sure that they have books on good habits for healthy eyes.
