Pink Eye: Cure for Pink Eye, Viral Pink Eye, Pink Eye Sign and Symptom

What is Pink Eye?

This may actually be one of the only diseases where we are more used to it’s scientifically term rather the cuddly alternative.  Pink eye, or conjunctivitis (in the defense of pink eye, it is quite easier to spell.) is an inflammation of the thin membrane located on the white of your eye.

Symptoms of Pink Eye

Pink eye, like all the other diseases, carry on their luggage of symptoms; listed bellows are the small symptoms that will undoubtedly end up telling you if you have pink eye or not.

Pink Eye

Believe it or not, but one of the symptoms behind the pink eye disease is none other than having pink eyes.  If you notice that you have pink eyes (through the magic of mirrors) or if you notice that someone has pink eyes, then it is definitely a sign of something gone wrong; pink eye is not something that happens everyday and should not be overlooked.  Since this is an inflammation, the pink tint in someone’s eyes may also be mixed with a tint of red.

Eye Watering

If you are excessively watering from the eyes (which means that you seem to be crying non-stop,) this may mean that you have contracted one of the possible pink eye symptoms.  One of the pink eye disease related to eye watering is Viral Conjunctivitis.

Abnormal colored watering
This symptom will keep you unsure of whether or not something is wrong, as you will be literally crying abnormal liquid.  In most of the cases, the bacterial liquid will be green (or a greenish color.)  This is a popular symptom for Bacterial Conjunctivitis.

Itchiness

Itchiness is a very irritating symptom (after all, how can one actually scratch an itch that seems to be located within your eyes.)  The problem can also be even more problematic if you were contact lens, as they will help the irritation of your eyes.  In that case, simply take out your contact lens.  Itchiness is normally the primary symptom for Giant papillary Conjunctivitis.

However, if both eyes are simultaneously infected, and if you add excessive eye watering (mentioned above,) this may end up being Allergic Conjunctivitis.

What Can I Do?

Obviously, knowing what kind of conjunctivitis you have contracted is actually not really useful to you, nor it will help you much in your quest for a cure.  If you are wearing contact lens then it is much better for you (and nearly essential) that you go and use an alternative method (such as wearing glasses) for the duration of your pink eye.  If you did not already do so, you should definitely go see a doctor and let him evaluate your conjunctivitis.  It is not certain that you will leave the doctor’s office with a prescription as some types of conjunctivitis (such as Viral Conjunctivitis) will simply go away on their own; however this does not mean that you should ignore the problem and in the worst case scenario, you will have to take some antibiotics.

What Should I Have Done?

Since the many forms of pink eye are contagious, you should take care of your eyes to make sure that it does not spread from you or to you.  The first rule is simply to keep any instruments that touch your eyes to yourself; this includes cosmetics, eye liners and even simple washcloths or towels.  If you find that you are contracting pink eye during spring and early summer, then it may be caused to the pollen; if possible try to stay indoor on days where the pollen is more apparent.
